Sold By: Cool Classics InternationalMaserati A6G/2000 Chassis number 2017 is one of just three short-wheel base Frua Spiders built and as such is exceedingly rare, plus it comes with a well-documented and quite remarkable history. According to a thorough investigation by renowned Maserati historians Adolfo Orsi Jr., chassis 2017 was delivered to Carrozzeria Pietro Frua on July 24, 1950. Six months later it emerged with its new bespoke, hand-built Spider coachwork and it was returned to the Maserati factory to receive its final fit and finishes. Dressed in dark blue, the finished A6G/2000 was delivered to Maserati dealer Mimmo Dei of Rome on May 17, 1951 and immediately sold to its first caretaker, Luigi Trevisan, one of the many professionals working in the movie business.

Sold By: SpartaCryptoChassis LML/50/95 is a superb example of an early DB2, beautifully presented with a high-quality restoration. Copies of the Works Service chassis card show it was delivered new on March 4, 1952, to David Gaunt, Esq. of Leeds, finished in “Steel Dust” with grey Connolly Vaumol hides, and registered HKW 666. It returned to the Works Service Department regularly for maintenance, and records show the factory updated it to the latest high-performance Vantage specification in late March/early April of 1953. The updates included fitting larger carburetors, new cams, and high-compression pistons, boosting peak power from 105 bhp to a handy 125 bhp. In addition to the service records, copies of the original registration log books track the ownership history through the early 1980s, noting the car had been repainted red sometime in the early 1970s.

Sold By: Hyman, Ltd.The 300 series was designed to compete with Rolls-Royce quality. It was complex, expensive and luxurious, and offered as a huge sedan with optional division windows or as a four-door cabriolet. The 300 was powered by a 115-bhp 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine coupled to a four-speed synchromesh gearbox, and was capable of cruising at 100 mph. The X-frame was built of oval tubes, the front suspension was independent by coil springs and wishbones, and the rear featured Mercedes-Benz’s swing axle. The rear suspension was adjustable at the dashboard and a central lubrication system was foot-operated.

Bentley R-Type Continental
The Bentley R-Type Continental was a high-performance version of the R-Type. It was the fastest four-seat car in production at the time. The prototype was developed by a team of designers and engineers from Rolls-Royce Ltd. and coachbuilder H. J. Mulliner & Co. led by Rolls-Royce's Chief Project Engineer, Ivan Evernden. Rolls-Royce worked with H. J. Mulliner instead of their own coachbuilding subsidiary Park Ward because the former had developed a lightweight body construction system using metal throughout instead of the traditional ash-framed bodies. The styling, finalized by Stanley Watts of H. J. Mulliner, was influenced by aerodynamic testing conducted at Rolls-Royce's wind tunnel by Evernden's assistant, Milford Read. The rear fins stabilized the car at speed and made it resistant to changes in direction due to crosswinds. -

Sold By: Gullwing Motor CarsSeen for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in 1957, the car was developed by chief engineer Giulio Alfieri as a fast, comfortable gran turismo that offered exhilarating performance but also day to day usability. The straight-six engine, the company’s first unit designed solely for road use, displaced 3485 cc and featured an aluminum block, dual overhead cams, twin-plug ignition and three twin-choke Weber carburetors. The ZF-supplied gearbox was an all-synchro four-speed, but from 1960 this was a five-speed, and a three-speed automatic became an option. Later cars would get Lucas fuel injection and were called 3500GTi. Carbureted cars developed 230 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque, enough for a top speed of 130 mph.

Sold By: SpartaCryptoThe year was 1957; Maserati had experienced some great fortune in the racing world, and the 3500GT coupe was a roaring success. For much of its existence as a manufacturer, Maserati was primarily concerned with motorsports. And this focus paid off with countless wins in Grand Prix and sports car racing both before and after the Second World War. Any road cars that Maserati had sold were very low volume. Very expensive automobiles that made heavy use of parts from the company’s existing racing machines. Maserati had barely lost out to Ferrari in the World Sportscar Championship in the same year. But in 1958 the company announced that it would cease its factory racing program. To stay in business, Maserati needed a different approach. Racing car construction and service was still carried out for privateers, but Maserati carried out series production of a road car for the first time with the 3500GT.

Sold By: Art & RevsThis 250 SWB is based on the series III GTE chassis 4553 GT. It was sparingly used in the UK and Italy as it had only covered 3,600 km when it was sold via Art & Revs' owner Florent MOULIN in 2006 to another UK collector. He sold the car to our customer in 2019 having added only 1,600km to it. The car is presented in immaculate condition; this SWB shows no sign of its age and it looks like it has just rolled out of Terry Hoyle’s workshop.

Sold By: Hyman, Ltd.Ferrari introduced their 330 GTC in 1966. The two-seat coupe was an elegant Pininfarina-designed coupe that was more spacious and powerful than the famed 275 GTB, yet smaller than the 330 GT 2+2. The GTC was followed later that same year by the 330 GTS Spyder to give both closed and open options.

Sold By: Motorcar ClassicsThe new Lamborghini 400GT 2+2 was sheathed in steel bodywork that was thoroughly revised by Touring in order to accommodate the back seats while preserving the 350GT’s attractive proportions, resulting in almost every panel on the car being new in spite of its likeness to the previous car. The 2+2 had four headlights instead of the 350GT’s two, but numerous other features of the 400GT 2+2 improved upon and set it apart from the 350GT. In addition to the larger and more powerful 320-hp 3929-cc version of the wonderful Bizzarini-designed six-Weber V-12, Lamborghini also introduced their own five-speed gearbox that by all accounts was easier to use and quieter than the 350GT’s ZF unit. Changes to the four-wheel independent suspension were also introduced to accommodate the car’s 400 extra pounds of weight. Reviews at the time compared the car favorably in handling and performance to its Ferrari contemporaries.

Sold By: Streetside Classics - AtlantaThe factory-correct gold interior is a great 1960s color. It looks especially nice on this one, because it has the kind of tone that almost looks like you mixed the exterior paint and roof colors together. There's plenty of correct and vintage style that makes this appealing. The woodgrain paneling on the center console and dash to give you an upscale feeling. Part of a true driver-oriented package that includes front bucket seats. A center console, and the cool Hurst ''His and Hers'' dual-gate shifter. There are even provisions for desirable features like a factory tach and air conditioning (they will need servicing to function again.) The trunk has a clean and complete look, but that's not the most impressive part. What you'll really be showing off is the signature of Jim Wangers. If you know 1968 Pontiac GTO, then we don't have to tell you about how this marketing ace was instrumental in letting the world know that the GTO was here and the muscle car era had begun.

Sold By: Gullwing Motor CarsMercedes-Benz could say of their 280SE 3.5 is that "at 100 mph, the loudest sound you hear is the air-conditioner." And they could say that even if the rest of the car was clattering away like a sack full of cowbells, because the air-conditioner is noisy. It does the job effectively and only somewhat obtrusively, as long as you don't need anything more than low-blower strength. If it gets really warm, and you get the blower up on the high end of the rheostat, the unit sounds like it's going to huff, and puff, and blow the windshield out.

Sold By: AP Vintage MotorsThe 1972 YH-code 455-cu.in. engine was built and installed prior to the seller buying the car, so internal details and specifications are scant. He did relay that “455” is cast into the sides of the block, the cylinder heads appear to be Pontiac #62s from the late 1960s. A Holley four-barrel carburetor is atop an aftermarket aluminum intake manifold, and headers feed into true dual exhausts, sans catalytic converters. It has a TH350 transmission, and it has been bored 30 over with 375 hp. For cold starting he says, “pump pedal twice and it starts right up.” The engine, “idles well despite its wicked cam, there are no leaks, and the transmission shifts smoothly.” A standard Safe-T-Track rear axle remains, but the seller is unsure of the gear ratio.

Sold By: Walt Grace VintageThis 1978 Porsche 930 Coupe is the recipient of a fresh, total nut and bolt restoration that started with an already clean, straight 57,000-mile original example. During the exhaustive restoration, which is documented in receipts totaling $80,000, the engine was completely rebuilt and bored out to 3.3-liters, and the seats were updated to electric ones from a 1979 Porsche. It is finished in a bright yellow that complements the aggressive Turbo bodywork, and has a black leather interior that looks better than new.
