Sold By: Steiner Sports MemorabiliaBoost your collection of Los Angeles Angels memorabilia with this Shohei Ohtani Autographed Kanji Ticket from August 31, 2017 - Beckett/Fanatics Graded 10. It features a hand-signed autograph by the legendary baseball player. Ohtani decided to go pro in Japan out of high school because the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters would allow him to both pitch and bat as a two-way player. He spent five seasons in Nippon Professional Baseball's Pacific League, where he earned five consecutive All-Star selections. Ohtani led the Fighters to a Japan Series championship in 2016 and was a single vote away from winning Pacific League MVP by unanimous decision. He signed a contract with the Angels the following year and promptly won American League Rookie of the Year in 2018. Though his next two seasons were marred by injuries, Ohtani had a historic campaign in 2021. "Shotime" became the first player in MLB history to be selected to the All-Star Game as both a position player and pitcher. He finished the season with a 9-2 pitching record, 3.18 ERA, and 156 strikeouts as well as 46 home runs, 100 RBIs, and 26 steals as a batter. He won the American League MVP (unanimously, this time) and received the Commissioner's Historic Achievement Award for his "major impact on the sport."
