Description
This 1969 Mach 1 “S” Code in excellent condition, retains 100% of the original body panels and much of the interior. The bottom side still has the original red oxide paint in great condition, powered by a matching numbers 390cid engine and 4-speed transmission with a Hurst Shifter.
This 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 was built on April 9, 1969 and sold new by Luke Bolton Ford of Plantation, Florida. It resided with two owners before undergoing a refurbishment from 2008 to 2009 that included a rebuild of the factory powertrain components, including the stock S-code “FE” engine, 4-speed manual transmission, and 9″ rear axle. The car is finished in factory color code “D5″ Pastel Gray with the factory black vinyl interior.
The rebuilt, numbers matching 390ci engine is factory rated at 320hp with 427 ft lbs of torque providing enough power to keep up with most rivals that might pull along side while cruising on a Saturday night. That power is fed rearward by a heavy duty Ford Top-Loader 4-speed transmission that shifts silky smooth while sending that torque to the 9” rear axle spinning the factory code “6” 3.00:1 gears, great for both highway driving and light-to-light speed tests.
The right option boxes were checked when this Mustang was originally ordered including: Power steering, AM/FM radio, factory 8000 rpm in dash tachometer, trip odometer, and factory A/C that blows cold, Pastel Gray (D5) a unique paint color name as it looks more like white than gray, but in fact, is the correct name. “Mach 1″ graphics, front air dam, rear spoiler, rear window louvers, and a factory-optioned matte-black hood, are all features that transform a normal Mustang in to the iconic Mach 1. Chrome 14” styled steel wheels are wrapped in period-appearing Firestone Wide Oval tires in size F70x14 for a finishing touch.
LaFontaine Classic Cars is proud to offer this Mach 1 with ownership records from the past 30 years including, a factory manual, the original build sheet and warranty Ownercard, window sticker copy, and a Deluxe Marti report.
Looking inside we find the black interior features reupholstered high-back vinyl bucket seats with textured inserts along with a matching dash pad and carpet. Additional interior equipment includes, wood veneer trim, center console housing a Hurst Competition Plus shifter with matching T-handle, and branded floor mats. A woodgrain Rim-Blow steering wheel centers a 120-mph speedometer along side an 8k-rpm tachometer surrounded by gauges to monitor the big V8 under the hood.
A chrome air cleaner and chrome valve covers are featured, along with a Pertronix ignition system upgrade to increase spark for a more efficient running engine.
