Description
Right from Zelos!
The nuclear-powered Attack Submarine: a silent hunter able to operate at over 600ft in depth at speeds over 25 knots. Its primary mission was to conduct anti-submarine operations, with 21” torpedo tubes to aid its task.
This very special edition of the Zelos Hammerhead consists of a dial that was sliced from an actual piece of nuclear submarine hull steel. This submarine served from 1976 till its decommissioning in 2011 and it was the first of its class.
The hull material was obtained from a ‘plankowner’, Mr Kendal who served on the submarine and was part of the decommissioning crew. As an avid watch enthusiast and owner of a piece of the hull, he has very generously provided us with this material to commemorate an amazing vessel with much history behind it.
In addition to the historic dial material, the case features an engraving of the submarine on its side. The caseback depicts a submarine doing an ‘Emergency Blow’. The usual 1000m depth rating on the dial has also been changed to further commemorate the submarine from which the steel was taken.
There are 80 pieces of this version made and each piece has a serial number on the caseback.
